International Women’s Day - March 9, 2026

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a programme was organized on 9 March 2026 at West Silchar College by the Nivedita Women’s Cell in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

The programme commenced at 11:00 a.m. with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Rini Begam Laskar, Assistant Professor, Head of the Department of Bengali, and Convener of the Nivedita Women’s Cell, who highlighted the significance of the day and emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, dignity, and equality in society.

The programme was further enriched by speeches delivered by Dr. Sayed Ahmed Barbhuiya, Assistant Professor; Mr. Baharul Islam Barbhuiya, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of IQAC; Dr. Runa Paul, Assistant Professor; Mrs. Chondrima Sen, Assistant Professor; Dr. Muzibur Rahman Barbhuiya, Assistant Professor; and Mr. Muzahidul Islam Laskar, General Secretary of the Students’ Union. The speakers highlighted the role of women in shaping society and stressed the need for equality, respect, and opportunities for women in all spheres of life.

The programme created awareness among the students about gender equality and the invaluable contributions of women in various fields. The initiative was appreciated by the participants, including both teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.

Special thanks were extended to Dr. Taj Uddin Khan, Principal of West Silchar College, for his constant support and encouragement in organizing the programme successfully.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Convener of the Nivedita Women’s Cell, who expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers, students, and non-teaching staff for their presence and cooperation in making the celebration a great success.

World AIDS Day 2025 - December 1, 2025

World AIDS Day 2025: A Day for Awareness at West Silchar College

West Silchar College observed World AIDS Day on Monday, December 1, 2025, with an insightful awareness program dedicated to fighting stigma and promoting HIV/AIDS education.

We were honored to host two distinguished faculty members who served as Resource Persons for the session:

Mr. Baharul Islam Barbhuiya, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of English

The successful organization and execution of the entire program were managed by Dr. Sadeque Ahmed Laskar, NSS Programme Officer of the college.

International YOGA Day - June 21, 2025

"Celebrating International Yoga Day 2025 with Enthusiasm and Spirit!", West Silchar College college came together to mark the 11th International Yoga Day, led by our dynamic Principal, Dr. Taj Uddin Khan. Renowned trainers Mr. Beeprashish Chakraborty and Mrs. Debjani Chakraborty guided us through a series of yoga postures and breathing exercises.

IQAC Coordinator, Mr. Baharul Islam Barbhuiya, was also present, inspiring all with his presence. A large number of faculty members, staff, and students participated with great enthusiasm, reaping the benefits of yoga for body and mind.

Special thanks to our Principal for inspiring us, our trainers for sharing their expertise, and Mr. Baharul Islam Barbhuiya for his motivational presence.
